The quantity was found to be waste and stale which was not fit for human consumption.

Rajkot : Constant checking is being done by Rajkot Municipal Corporation to stop the sale of non-edible items. Under which checking was carried out at Mahi Food Products near Vavadi by the teams of the food department of the municipality today, in which a total of 1390 kg of inedible food including 750 kg of farsan was found and all the quantity was seized and destroyed on the spot. Also took samples of chakri and chilli powder and issued a notice to the firm to maintain hygienic conditions.

It was found that the waste and stale packed namkeen-farsan packing stored at the firm’s premises did not have any expiry date or product details printed as per Food Safety and Standards Act-2006. Also packed food items like Kurkur like farsan 3 kg, 285 kg, chakri, 300 kg, cornbite -80 kg, other fallow farsan 50 kg, making a total of approximately 715 kg. The trader himself admitted that the quantity was found to be waste and stale which was not fit for human consumption. Following which all these quantities were destroyed.
