2 teachers fined 40k for assessment errors | Ahmedabad News


Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has fined two teachers from Ahmedabad schools over Rs 40,000 each for making mistakes in assessing Classes 10 and 12 exam answer sheets held earlier.
Sources said a teacher from AEM School in Vatva was fined Rs 42,400 for making mistakes involving a total of 424 marks. Another teacher from the Seventh Day Adventist Higher Secondary School in Maninagar was fined Rs 44,000 for making mistakes involving 440 marks. A teacher from Shardaba Higher Secondary School in Vastral was fined Rs 37,500 for mistakes of 375 marks.
Sources said every year, about 60,000 teachers are assigned to answersheet assessment duties, and several make evaluation mistakes. Fines are calculated at Rs 100 for mistakes of every mark. The district education officer was asked to recover the fines from the teachers.
