Surat : At present, during the Diwali festival, the Surat Municipal Corporation has closed the stalls selling firecrackers at dangerous places in the city. The fire department of the municipality removed the stalls near the school and DGVCL’s high tension power cable and DP. Apart from this, 23 applications for firecracker stalls in dangerous places in Surat have been cancelled.

Furthermore, firecrackers are currently being sold in public places due to Diwali festival in Surat city. Fire department received 410 applications for setting up firecracker sale stalls at public places in Surat. However, as fire NOC and permission are required to be obtained before setting up stalls and selling, the department conducted spot checks on the applications received, in which, contrary to the rules, the application of the spots determined near the school or near the public palace and on the road as dangerous was rejected. The fire department had objected to a total of 23 application spots. While 387 licenses were granted, however, no action has been taken against those selling firecrackers on the road in public places.
