Ahmedabad: The Civil Hospital recorded 36 cadaver donations for organ retrieval, resulting in the donation of 124 organs this year. Civil Hospital officials said that out of the total, 32 donors were men and four were women. Of the total, 28 were from Gujarat, and the remaining eight were from other parts of the country.
“The cadaver organ donations include 72 kidneys, 32 livers, 13 hearts, three pairs of lungs, and one pancreas.The year also saw the start of a skin bank, and in the first year itself, we recorded eight donations,” said a senior official of the Civil Hospital. “The year continued the momentum as 2023 also recorded 36 cadaver donations or one donation every 10 days.”
