Proposal to build an underground water tank at Puna area at cost of three crore rupees has been submitted to the water committee.
Surat : After the expansion of Surat Metropolitan Municipality, the Municipality is planning to provide water supply to the new area. A 74 lakh liter underground tank has been constructed in Puna area to provide water supply to the six lakh population of Varachha-Limbayat area. A proposal has been submitted in the committee of the Water Committee for the construction of a water tank at a cost of three crore rupees and a decision will be taken on it in the coming days.
After the expansion of the Surat Municipality, there is a complaint of water shortage from time to time in the new area. The municipality is continuously planning for more convenience in the water supply provided by the municipality. After the extension, the exercise to provide water supply to the areas included in Varachha and Limbayat zones has started. In order to get uninterrupted water supply to the six lakh population of Puna and Limbayat area, it is planned to build an underground water tank to store 74 lakh liters of water in the next day in the water distribution center built at Pune. Due to the 74 lakh liter underground tank to be built at the Puna area Water Distribution Center in Varachha zone, it will be easy to provide regular water supply to the urban people even under the 24 hours scheme in the future. The water committee meeting will decide on the estimate for building the water tank. It is estimated that six lakh people of Puna and Limbayat area will get uninterrupted water supply after this tank is built.
