In Gujarat’s Aravalli district, a groom brazenly flouted liquor prohibition laws during his wedding procession. He was seen distributing beer to his friends and relatives in Rintoda village

AHMEDABAD: In a brazen disregard for liquor prohibition laws, a bridegroom seated on a horse openly distributed beer bottles to his friends and relatives accompanying him in the marriage procession. The video of this incident was widely shared on social media on Thursday.
The video from Rintoda village in the Aravalli district shows a crate of beer being handed over to the groom.
As the DJ blares music in the background, the groom is seen enthusiastically opening the crate and handing out the bottles to his friends and relatives grooving to the music alongside.
As the videos of this public spectacle went viral, the Local Crime Branch (LCB) initiated a probe and arrested two persons, even as the groom was on the run after the video surfaced. “Beer bottles were openly distributed during a wedding procession on April 21. A video of the incident showing individuals carrying beer bottles and splashing the spirit went viral on social media, prompting police action under the Gujarat Prohibition Act,” stated a release from the Aravalli police.

Following the viral footage, Bhiloda police identified Ajay Hotha, a resident of Rintoda, as the man carrying the beer carton. He was arrested along with Hitesh Pandor, who was seen spraying beer from a bottle. The groom has also been named as an accused in the FIR.
According to Bhiloda police inspector DB Vala, a case under the Gujarat Prohibition Act was registered against the groom and the two arrested men on Tuesday.
Police teams have been formed to trace the groom and identify others involved in liquor distribution and consumption in the function.
