Ahmedabad: Gaekwad Haveli police on Saturday booked seven persons, and arrested one of them, for allegedly forging documents and illegally acquiring and selling land belonging to the seven-century-old Trikamji Mandir, a public trust property located in the Jamalpur area. The complaint was filed by Brijesh Parmar, an inspector in the Public Trust Registration Office at Vastrapur, under the charity commissioner of Gujarat. The seven persons booked include Babulal Shah, Mohammad Asgar Pathan, Nizamuddin Sheikh, Mohammad Bilal Sheikh, Zeeshan Kadri, Rohan Kadri, and an unidentified individual for criminal conspiracy, forgery, producing forged documents as genuine, and cheating under the Indian Penal Code. Police have arrested Bilal Sheikh, a builder and son of the notorious Hanif Dadhi, near the Kachchi Masjid area in Jamalpur. According to the FIR, the land in question is located on City Survey No. 593 and 594 in Jamalpur Ward No. 1 and belongs to the centuries-old temple registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950. The Gujarat high court ordered status quo on Jan 11, 2012, which barred any party from transferring, altering, or taking possession of the property while a civil case was pending. Despite this order, the accused allegedly created fake documents and misrepresented facts to authorities in order to obtain permission to sell the land.On Feb 22, 2023, they allegedly sold the land for Rs 2.36 crore to Bilal Hanif Sheikh and others. The complaint states that the accused concealed key court rulings, presented expired or unauthorised resolutions, and failed to submit proof of legal authority from the trust. One of the witnesses to the sale deed was previously declared medically unfit and resigned from the association, yet his name was used in the transaction.
