Gandhinagar: Acclaimed children’s poet and writer Kirtida Brahmbhatt received the Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2025 for her popular children’s poetry collection “Tinchak”. This collection, written in Gujarati, tenderly touches upon the innocence, imagination, and education of children. The poems in “Tinchak” offer a glimpse into Gujarati culture with their eloquent expression and rhythm, earning widespread praise from readers and educators across the country.Meanwhile, Mayur Khavdu received the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar 2025 for “Narsinh Tekari”, a collection of essays in Gujarati.A statement quoting Kirtida Brahmbhatt said, “Writing for children is both a joy and a responsibility. They are the most innocent and genuine readers. I am deeply grateful for this award and dedicate it to all the children of India.” This award marks an important milestone in her literary career. Family, friends, and the literary community extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for her bright future.The award relates to books first published during the five years immediately preceding the year of the award (i.e., between Jan 1, 2019, and Dec 31, 2023). “Tinchak” was first published in 2022. The award, comprising an engraved copper plaque and prize money of Rs 50,000, will be presented to awardees at a special function to be held at a later date, a Sahitya Akademi statement said on Wednesday.
