Ahmedabad: The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), in association with the Mediation & Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC) of the Supreme Court of India, launched a special mediation drive for 90 days from July 1. The drive — Mediation for the Nation Campaign — is aimed at clearing pending cases in all the taluka courts, district courts, and high courts across the country. This campaign has been undertaken under the aegis of the Chief Justice of India.In a statement, the Gujarat State Legal Service Authority’s (GLASA) member secretary, H M Pavar, said, “With the aim of achieving maximum amicable settlement in applicable cases, efforts will be made to refer cases to mediation from the court.”In this regard, the GLASA and courts are to request the parties to put their pending cases related to matrimonial disputes, accident claims, domestic violence, cheque bounce, commercial disputes, service matters, criminal compoundable cases, consumer disputes cases, debt recovery cases, partition cases, eviction cases, land acquisition cases, and other suitable civil cases to mediation in the courts for amicable settlement.
