Ahmedabad: The alleged unauthorised demolition of a public toilet in Shahpur’s Limda Chowki two months ago has led to scrutiny of a nearby snack shop. The toilet, located in front of the shop reportedly owned by a relative of a ward-level local political leader, who had allegedly razed the toilet without approval from AMC’s health department. “The eatery did not have a valid health licence, prompting us to issue a show-cause notice,” a senior health official told TOI. The shop has been ordered shut for three days until the licence is obtained. The demolition stemmed from complaints about the toilet’s condition. A BJP ward leader allegedly raised the issue with councillors who then recommended its removal. Health and solid waste committee chairman Jasu Chauhan said, “The ward leader may have submitted an application for the removal of the toilet, but it did not come before the health committee for approval.” tnn
