Ahmedabad: Two years after Rs 25 lakh in cash reportedly went missing, a 39-year-old businessman from Sola on Sunday filed a complaint, accusing is sister-in-law and her parents of theft. The businessman stated in his FIR with Chandkheda police that he had left the cash from a land sale at his elder brother’s flat in Vaishnodevi area on April 28, 2023, for safekeeping. As his mother was alone when he went to keep the cash, the complainant said he informed his brother and sister-in-law, who were not at their residence, about placing the bag with cash in their room. When he went to get it three weeks later, the sister-in-law allegedly denied any knowledge of the cash. The businessman alleged that on May 19, 2023, his sister-in-law left for her parental home in Kolkata without notice and soon stopped responding to calls. It was her own sister who reportedly alerted the businessman about the accused hiding the money with their parents. The businessman alleged that his sister-in-law and her parents refused to return the money, taunting him that the accused would get bail for any legal charges brought against her. He told police that he decided to file a complaint after failing to resolve the matter privately. Chandkheda police have registered a case under IPC Sections 380 (theft) and 114 (abetment); theft in a dwelling house and abetment.
