Gandhinagar: The Gambhira bridge collapse in Vadodara district was discussed at Wednesday’s state cabinet meeting. Official sources said chief minister Bhupendra Patel summoned officials of the state roads and buildings department and sought an explanation on the tragedy, directing them to file a report on the cause of the incident.Speaking to reporters after the cabinet meeting in Gandhinagar, state govt spokesperson Rushikesh Patel said that the chief minister directed a team of technical experts to rush to the site and file a report on the causes that led to the collapse. “The tragedy was discussed at the cabinet meeting. The chief minister sought an explanation from officials of the roads and buildings department on the issue,” Patel said.He added, “The report from these experts is awaited. The bridge was built in 1985 and underwent necessary repairs and strengthening as and when required. The chief minister had earlier sanctioned Rs 212 crore for a new bridge at the site.”
