Trump confirms he will declare ‘national emergency’, use ‘military assets’ to deport illegal migrants

United States President-elect Donald Trump on Monday (Nov. 18) confirmed that he will go ahead with his plan to declare a “national emergency” in the country for the deportation of illegal migrants while using “military assets” for the same once he comes back into office next year.

The statement was made by Trump on Truth Social, where he replied “TRUE!!!” to a post shared by Judicial Watch’s Tom Fitton who reported about his future plans.

“GOOD NEWS: Reports are the incoming @RealDonaldTrump administration prepared to declare a national emergency and will use military assets to reverse the Biden invasion through a mass deportation program,” Fitton wrote on the social media platform.

Trump’s historic deportation plan

The president-elect had promised to carry out the largest deportation in history after taking the oath of office on January 20, 2025.

His single-word response confirmed that Trump will be going ahead with his plans.

“On Day 1, I will launch the largest deportation program in American history to get the criminals out,” Trump had said while addressing his Madison Square Garden rally ahead of his presidential race.

“I will rescue every city and town that has been invaded and conquered, and we will put these vicious and bloodthirsty criminals in jail, then kick them the hell out of our country as fast as possible,” he said.

“I will invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to target and dismantle every migrant criminal network operating on American soil,” Trump was heard as saying at a rally on November 4.

Trump had planned to curb illegal migration and combat cartel activity which would involve enlisting full military support and naval blockade to stop trafficking, reintroducing his previous border enforcement policies and deploying Special Forces and cyber tools to stop cartels.

He has voiced his support for classifying cartels as terrorist organisations and has appealed to Congress to clear laws which impose the death penalty on drug traffickers.

Trump’s border czar

In his plans to secure borders, Trump has appointed former acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement chief Tom Homan as the new “border czar” who will work towards securing both the northern and southern borders.

Homan has expressed his willingness to remove illegal immigrants from the US without taking into consideration Democrat-run cities like New York, which claim “sanctuary” status.

“I’ve been clear. President Trump’s been clear. Public safety threats and national security threats will be the priority because they have to be, they pose the most danger in this country,” said Homanm while speaking to “Fox & Friends” last week.

As per reports, there are at least 13 million undocumented migrants currently living in the US.
