Biohacker Bryan Johnson shared how his face blew up due to an allergic reaction after his ‘age-defying’ treatment went wrong.
The unique treatment involved injecting the fat of another person into his face. The jabs were taken by the 47-year-old as part of his quest for a ‘baby face’.
The multimillionaire is famous for opting for outlandish anti-ageing treatments. The fat injected led to the swelling in his upper face to the point where he temporarily lost his vision and was not able to see. This experiment was part of his “Project Blueprint”.
“I got really lean and lost a lot of fat—especially in my face … I looked gaunt. People thought I was on the brink of death,” said Johnson.
How Johnson’s anti-ageing experiment went wrong
Taking to Instagram, Johnson said his team found that facial fat “is pretty important for how people perceive youth” and that “it didn’t matter how good my biomarkers were if I didn’t have face fat.”
Johnson said that they went for “a fat-derived extracellular matrix to restore volume by stimulating my body’s natural fat growth”, which meant injecting fat in the face instead of using fillers.
“It’s possible to use one’s own body fat for this, but the problem was I didn’t have enough fat on my body to extract, so I used a donor,” said Johnson.
However, the entrepreneur faced an unfortunate reaction on his face, which started showing 30 minutes after the treatment.
“Immediately following the injections, my face began to blow up. And then it got worse, and worse, and worse until I couldn’t even see. It was a severe allergic reaction,” said Johnson.
“You may not recognise me today. I think I’m ok. I hope I’m ok. If I’m not ok, are you by chance trained to perform any life-saving actions?” he added.
“Seven days later my face was back to normal. We were back in the trenches reformulating plans for our next attempt. Building a product is one thing; being the product is a whole different thing,” the millionaire further said.
Johnson is famous for carrying out unique anti-ageing experiments that have brought shocking transitions in him.
