A major clash erupted between cops and a massive mob in India’s Uttar Pradesh state on Sunday after officials went to conduct a survey of a mosque in Sambhal district. As officials arrived at the scene to conduct the survey, the mob started pelting stones at them, and the situation turned violent. In retaliation, police fired tear gas shells at the crowd. Dozens of cops sustained injuries during the showdown, whereas at least three people are believed to have been killed. In other news, Financial Times has reported that Russia has recruited hundreds of fighters from Yemen to fight in Ukraine. In return, Moscow is believed to have offered the fighters a high salary and Russian citizenship. Meanwhile, as PTI workers in Pakistan started descending upon Islamabad, the party’s social media handles reported ‘extreme shelling’ by the ‘fascist regime’ of PM Shehbaz Sharif.
