Ahmedabad: A former member of the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has appealed to the chief minister, requesting an investigation into dummy schools and ordering the closure of such schools in the state. The member wrote that several students aspiring to institutions like IIT, IIM and medical colleges after Class 12 science often register at coaching institutes after their Class 10, while simultaneously enrolling in these dummy schools for formal schooling.
The member, Priyavadan Korat, alleged that the dummy schools employ teachers who exist merely on official documents and are not involved in evaluating Class 12 final question papers. He also pointed out that these institutions somehow secure authorisation to conduct Class 12 science practical exams on their premises and grant passing marks without actually conducting the assessments.
