Ahmedabad: Hours after an SUV driver tried to kill an ex-IRS officer by running over his car during a road rage incident in Sola, another SUV driver tried to run over two cops in the nearby Bhadaj locality. The cops suffered injuries in the incident, said police officers.
Ajay Desai, a constable with the city traffic police, stated in his FIR with Sola police that he was performing his duty at the Bhadaj circle when the incident took place on Wednesday evening. Desai mentioned that ASI Bhavesh Girish, constables Atul Ganesh, and Sunil Ishwar were present with him at the circle.
At around 7pm, cops spotted a car coming from the Ognaj circle to the Bhadaj circle. They saw the driver trying to drive in reverse to evade the cops. According to the FIR, cops rushed to the car, which had tinted glasses, to stop it.
However, the car driver then drove towards the cops and allegedly tried to run over them. In this, Desai suffered injuries after being hit by the vehicle. When Ishwar tried to stop the car driver, the driver allegedly hit him and injured him as well.
Both the cops were rushed to Sola Civil Hospital, where they received primary treatment in the OPD. After a medico-legal case was filed, Sola police registered a complaint of attempted murder and voluntarily causing grievous hurt to deter a public servant from discharging his duty under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
On Wednesday morning, an SUV driver, Sunil Dadhich, hit a 58-year-old man, Asit Acharya, an ex-IRS officer, near the Kargil Crossroads in Sola.
