Drive to ensure pvt schools charge prescribed fees | Ahmedabad News

Ahmedabad: The fee regulatory committee has announced a dedicated inspection drive to collect information regarding private school fees to ensure that students are charged the prescribed fees. The committee has ordered education department officials to verify if schools have properly displayed fee information on notice boards in both Gujarati and English languages, and to check their official websites. Many schools have not complied with the mandate to display fee details, leading to this inspection, sources said.
Under the state govt fee regulation bill, to restrict excessive private school charges, fee limits were set at Rs 15,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 30,000 for primary, secondary, and higher secondary levels respectively. Schools charging within these limits must submit an affidavit annually, while those seeking a fee hike need to present a detailed proposal to the committee. The FRC evaluates proposals and sanctions the school fees, issuing an order accordingly. Schools must then collect fees based on this order and are required to display it on notice boards and publish it online. However, investigations revealed several cases of non-compliance. tnn
