The family of Kunjal Shah decided to donate her organs on Dec 26 after doctors at SVP Hospital declared her brain-dead. Officials said that Shah was admitted to the hospital after a severe brain stroke. She could not be recovered after the admission, they added. The team retrieved her kidneys, lungs, heart, liver, and cornea. SVP Hospital officials said that it was a commendable commitment from the family to give a new lease of life to several patients through the deed.
Amdavadi to be fifth centurion woman blood donor from Guj
Vaishali Pandya, a woman from Ahmedabad, will become the fifth from Gujarat to donate blood or blood products 100 times. She donated whole blood 57 times and donated single donor platelets (SDP) to cancer patients 42 times, said Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) officials. To mark the occasion, 100 women will join her in blood donation. Dr Vishwas Amin, director of IRCS, said that they appeal to the citizens to also join in the initiative on Saturday at IRCS Bhavan in Vadaj for maximum blood donation.
