Ahmedabad: A man has been arrested for harbouring BZ Ponzi scam accused Bhupendrasinh Zala during his run from cops. Karansinh Chauhan was on Tuesday produced before a special court by CID (Crime) after his arrest.
Chauhan had allegedly sheltered Zala at his farmhouse in Mehsana district‘s Devada village.
With the arrest and production of Chauhan before the court for sheltering the accused, deputy superintendent of police Ashwin Patel submitted a report to the court, requesting it to add Section 249 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with the crime of harbouring or concealing a known offender to shield him from legal punishment.
The punishment for this crime depends on the severity of the offence.
The report states that Zala and others of BZ Group promised their agents commissions ranging from 5% to 25% and offered gifts, enticing teachers, retired employees and others to invest crores of rupees.
Chauhan’s is the ninth arrest in this alleged Ponzi scam.
