SBR parking payment deadline extended, EV charging station to go | Ahmedabad News

Ahmedabad: The civic body’s standing committee on Thursday gave the bidder six more months to make full payment for the ground floor of the Sindhu Bhavan Multilevel Parking. Also, upon the bidder’s request, the meeting decided to remove the EV charging station from the parking.
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation standing committee chairman Devang Dani stated, “The deadline for the bidder to pay the remaining amount for the ground floor property of Sindhu Bhavan Multilevel Parking has been extended by six months.

The bidder also requested the removal of the EV charging station, which we have decided to do. It may take only 24 hours to remove the EV charging station, so there is no rush.”
About a year ago, AMC had sold the ground floor of the Sindhu Bhavan Multilevel Parking on Sindhu Bhavan Road in Bodakdev ward for Rs 80.46 crore through an auction. The bidder deposited 10% of the amount, Rs 8 crore, with the corporation’s estate department. However, more than a year passed, and the bidder was yet to pay the remaining 90%.
Sources said the bidder was objecting to the EV charging station being built on the ground floor and hence did not make the full payment within the stipulated time. On the other hand, since the bidder did not deposit the remaining 90% within the deadline, the corporation was set to confiscate the 10% advance payment. Consequently, the bidder requested an extension and the removal of the EV charging station, both of which the standing committee accepted.
It is for the time that AMC has sold an entire floor property of the multilevel parking as a single unit, rather than auctioning individual shops and offices. In the July 2023 auction, no builder showed interest in purchasing the first and fifth floors, while one bidder came forward for the ground floor. The bidder offered to buy the 4158.33 sq m ground floor property at a base price with an increment of only Rs 500 per sq m. AMC set the price at Rs 1.93 lakh per sq m, and the bidder showed interest with an increment of just Rs 500 per square metre. The proposal to lease the ground floor to the bidder for 99 years was approved by the standing committee on Aug 10, 2023. The total base price for the ground floor was set at Rs 80.25 crore, and it was sold for Rs 80.46 crore. The bidder has yet to deposit the remaining 90%.
