Ahmedabad: In a case of domestic violence, a 42-year-old woman in Fatehwadi intervened when she witnessed her neighbour brutally assaulting her two young stepdaughters with sticks.
The accused, whose husband is currently in jail, unleashed a torrent of abuse upon the 14- and 7-year-old girls, leaving them with injuries on their faces, legs, backs, and heads.
The good Samaritan lived in a flat below the woman. On Jan 11, she heard the children crying loudly from the flat above. She intervened and tried to shield the children from the attack but was also subjected to verbal and physical abuse. However, she managed to grab the girls and took them to the hospital for treatment.
She finally filed a police complaint at the Vejalpur police station on Saturday. The accused now faces charges of voluntarily causing hurt and intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace.
