British band Coldplay captivated fans with a stellar performance at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday evening, marking their first-ever concert in Gujarat. The packed stadium buzzed with excitement as Chris Martin and his bandmates delivered a spellbinding show that left the audience in awe.
Chris Martin, the lead vocalist, charmed the crowd by speaking in Gujarati, greeting them with, “Tame logo aaje badha sundar laago cho. Hu tamare shahar ma aavyo chu. Kem cho Ahmedabad?” This heartfelt gesture won the hearts of the audience.
The magic peaked during their hit song A Sky Full of Stars, when the stadium transformed into a dazzling galaxy of lights.
Fireworks illuminated the night sky as Martin encouraged fans to set their phones aside and immerse themselves in the moment. “Your phone in your pocket, your hands in the sky,” he said, sparking a wave of cheers as the crowd sang along to the acoustic rendition of the song.
After the concert, Coldplay expressed their gratitude to fans on their X account, calling it their “biggest-ever concert.” They wrote, “Totally mind-blowing. Thank you, Ahmedabad. See you again tomorrow – and if you’re in India, please join us on Disney+ Hotstar from 7.45pm .”
Earlier in the day, the band posted a playful image of a hand-drawn cricket ball with the caption: “I think even Jasprit might struggle to bowl with this badly drawn ball, but at least it is almost spherical. It is such a pleasure to be here at this amazing stadium and to play in Ahmedabad for the very first time.”
