Foot overbridges for key roads get nod | Ahmedabad News


Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation‘s (AMC’s) standing committee endorsed budget modifications of Rs 1,501 crore to the initial draft of Rs 14,001 crore, resulting in a final budget of Rs 15,502 crore. The approved plan includes Rs 10 crore for the construction of foot overbridges at key locations, including Ashram Road, Vastrapur Lake, Prahladnagar, CG Road, Airport Road, and the 132-foot Ring Road.
The budget allocated substantial funds for various infrastructure projects, such as Rs 100 crore for Kharicut Canal Phase-2, Rs 75 crore towards stormwater drainage systems, Rs 50 crore for new water distribution facilities, and Rs 100.98 crore to house project-affected people. Additional allocations comprise Rs 45 crore for village development, and Rs 25 crore each for lake enhancement and the establishment of Ahmedabad Haat in the eastern part of the city.
The standing committee also approved plans for the renovation of Prahladnagar Garden and allocated Rs 10 crore for a palliative care facility for cancer patients. The civic body budget also included provisions for developing a unified mobile application. Furthermore, Rs 1 crore was designated for an Ahmedabad City startup festival, while Rs 50 lakh was set aside to provide aprons, caps, and gloves to city vendors.
