DGP reviews Gujarat police strategies


Ahmedabad: State DGP Vikas Sahay chaired a crime conference in Bhavnagar, where police commissioners from Rajkot, Surat, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad, along with nine range IGs, presented their law enforcement initiatives on Saturday.
The conference reviewed implementation of new laws and future strategies. Sahay said that the police department has received Rs 12,659 crore for modernisation, including a cyber centre of excellence, 1,186 new positions and Rs 299 crore for upgrading IT infrastructure. Plans include cyber forensic units in 24 districts and creation of 6,000 new positions.
Key achievements Sahay highlighted were under Tera Tujhko Arpan initiative, property worth Rs 20.47 crore was returned to owners in Jan. The ‘Three Things Yours, Three Things Ours’ programme saw 1,303 initiatives addressing community concerns. Police recovered Rs 13 crore from cyberfraud cases and arrested 82 illegal moneylenders.
