Delivery executive cheats trader out of 4.5L | Ahmedabad News

Ahmedabad: A businessman from Gandhinagar, who runs a garments store on CG Road, accused a delivery executive of misusing his credit card and cheating him of Rs 4.5 lakh. According to the police complaint filed by Kerul Barbhaya, he and Ranjit Thakor became acquainted in 2021 when the latter was working as a delivery executive. As their friendship developed, Thakor requested Barbhaya to let him use his credit card for payments.
He assured Barbhaya that he would repay the credit card bills. Trusting his word, Barbhaya shared his credit card details and OTPs to authorise the transactions.
Initially, Thakor made payments and settled the dues. However, in June 2021, he failed to repay Rs 25,000. Despite this, Barbhaya continued to provide his credit card details and OTPs whenever Thakor cited financial difficulties. In Oct 2023, Thakor allegedly withdrew Rs 2.12 lakh using Thakor’s credit card. In Oct 2024, he withdrew another Rs 1.52 lakh, bringing the total unpaid amount to Rs 4.5 lakh including penalties.
Despite reminders, Thakor neither returned the money nor cleared the penalties. Barbhaya then approached Navrangpura police and filed a complaint seeking action against his former friend for breach of trust and cheating.
