Ahmedabad: A jeweller from CG Road registered a complaint of cheating and breach of trust with Navrangpura police against a Bikaner resident who allegedly cheated the jeweller of Rs 20.59 lakh. According to the complaint, the jeweller gave gold and silver for making jewellery, which were never returned after the job work.
The complaint stated that the complainant, along with his brother and mother, were the current directors of the jeweller firm set up in 1978.
The Bikaner jeweller worked with the CG Road firm for the past 10 years and crafted jewellery for them. “We provide him with gold and silver, and he makes jewellery according to our specifications within the agreed time frame,” the complainant stated.
The complainant stated that since he worked for a long time, they trusted him, and in Dec 2022, they gave him 287.05 grams of 24-carat gold valued at Rs 16.80 lakh and 6.962kg of pure silver valued at Rs 4.89 lakh to make jewellery.
The complainant stated that after deducting his labour charges of Rs 1.10 lakh, they owed Rs 20.59 lakh. The complainant stated that the jewellery, after making, was to be given in 20 days. However, when the Bikaner jeweller failed to return the jewellery, they asked him, and the Bikaner jeweller confessed that he sold the gold and silver due to financial needs. The complainant stated that the Bikaner counterpart assured them he would return the money or jewellery. An application was given in May last year. On Sunday, he lodged the complaint.
