Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation‘s health and solid waste management committee approved an annual Rs 1 crore rate contract on Wednesday for tea, snacks, and lunch/dinner packets for govt events. However, a Rs 50 lakh proposal for supplying drinking water, including mineral water bottles, for these events was cancelled due to high costs, prompting a re-tender.
Regarding this, committee chairman Jashubhai Chauhan said, “AMC organises inaugurations and foundation ceremonies for various projects in the city. For the dignitaries, leaders, councillors, officials and beneficiaries attending these govt events, rate contracts for tea, snacks, or lunch and dinner are approved as needed.

“An annual expenditure proposal of Rs 1 crore for lunch food packets, tea, snacks, and dinner for various govt events in the city was approved. However, the proposal to spend Rs 50 lakh on supplying mineral water bottles, including mineral water, was cancelled. Due to higher prices in this proposal, a re-tender has been ordered.”
