AHMEDABAD: The city continued to sizzle on Wednesday, with the maximum temperature touching 43.2°C – among the highest recorded this season and 4.2 degrees above normal. The minimum temperature also saw a spike, rising to 27.6°C, 4.4 degrees above normal.
The maximum temperature on Thursday is likely to be around 42°C, said the Met department.
With fewer people willing to brave the scorching heat, ride-share platforms hiked prices significantly, making even short rides expensive. Shayn, a resident of Memnagar, said, “I have to travel to Vastrapur for my classes.
Usually, I pay around Rs 40 for a two-wheeler ride or Rs 60-65 for a three-wheeler. Today, the prices crossed Rs 75 for two-wheeler and Rs 100 for an auto on the ride-sharing apps.”
The heatwave was quite intense in Kandla which saw the highest temperature at 45.6°C, followed by Rajkot at 45.2°C.
