Ahmedabad: It rained throughout the day in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, bringing an average of 16.55mm of showers across the city. While some welcomed the brief relief from heat, the downpour exposed glaring civic gaps especially in Shela, where poor planning and open excavation left roads waterlogged and hazardous. Nikol and Ramol saw the heaviest rainfall, recording 31.50mm. More than 10 locations struggled with waterlogging while five trees were uprooted. In Shela, which falls under Auda’s jurisdiction, locals struggled with overflowing sewer water, partially excavated roads, and deep pits left uncovered due to ongoing drainage and stormwater pipeline work. Roads near Club O7 were submerged, and large potholes posed a serious risk to commuters. Residents expressed frustration over the lack of coordination in civic work that led to flood-like scenes after a single spell of rain.Waterlogging was also reported in Sidiqabad Society in Sarkhej, areas behind Savan Party Plot, and several eastern localities including Chakudiya Mahadev (20mm), Viratnagar (18mm), Maninagar (17.5mm), and Naroda (17.5mm). Western areas, though relatively less affected, still received notable rainfall: Paldi, Vastrapur, and Jodhpur each saw 13.5mm to 17mm of rain.
