Ahmedabad: A subcontractor tasked with binding the tickets for the international flower show, being held by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), was detained after he allegedly gave a few tickets to his sister-in-law and other relatives to facilitate free entry for them.
According to an FIR filed with Sabarmati Riverfront (West) police, the civic body staff deployed at the entry gate of the flower show venue found that a few visitors had a bunch of entry tickets that had not been issued to anyone.
Dipak Patel, 54, general manager with the Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (SRFDCL), said that civic body staff found a total of 52 tickets worth Rs 1,890 with the visitors.
Patel filed a complaint of cheating and forgery under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita following which police began an investigation. Inspector M V Patel of Sabarmati Riverfront (West) police said they detained a person named Suresh Bhavsar, a subcontractor for ticket printing and packaging.
Patel said AMC had given the ticket printing contract to an agency named 18 Creation in Thaltej, which subcontracted the work to four people.
One of them, who was given the task of binding the tickets, gave a few tickets to his sister-in-law and her relatives.
