Ahmedabad: Pre-primary schools across the state are facing an uncertain future as the govt has yet to issue a promised circular regarding registration relaxations, with only 15 days remaining until the deadline.
The Pre-Primary School Association has made another urgent appeal to education minister Kuber Dindor, requesting both the immediate release of the circular and an extension of the Feb 16 registration deadline.Despite verbal assurances given during a Jan 1 meeting, no official documentation was issued so far.
The association has been challenging the registration policy announced on Feb 15, 2024, citing several impractical requirements. Their key demands include permission to operate in rented premises without Building Use (BU) changes, acceptance of structural stability certificates, exemption for small pre-primary schools from forming large trusts, reduction of lease agreement terms from 15 to 5 years, and revision of registration fees from Rs 10,000 per school to Rs 5,000 per class.
The delay in implementing these promised relaxations has created widespread concern among pre-school operators. Without immediate govt action, thousands of pre-schools may be forced to shut down, potentially leading to significant job losses in the sector.
The association continues to press for urgent intervention, emphasizing the need for both the circular’s release and a one-year extension of the registration deadline to prevent widespread closures in the pre-school education sector.
