A video has emerged in which United States President Joe Biden is seen stumbling and also struggling a lot while walking on the beach and eventually needing the help of First Lady Jill Biden near his beach house in Delaware on Sunday (Nov. 10).
The 81-year-old outgoing commander-in-chief was seen repeatedly losing his balance as he tried to walk through the unstable sand in Rehoboth Beach on Sunday.
The president was seen struggling a week after Vice President Kamala Harris was defeated by President-elect Donald Trump.
In the video, Biden is seen struggling in the deep and uneven sand, after which the first lady held his arm to make him steady.
After some wobbly steps, Biden increased his pace and moved towards reporters who were asking what he would discuss with Trump during their meeting in the White House on Wednesday (Nov. 13).
“Biden is currently battling the sand at his beach house in Delaware,” wrote a Republican National Committee social media account. “The sand is winning,” it added.
His video of stumbling sparked concerns about Biden’s mental and physical strength, which was a political issue when he had decided to run for the presidency again.
Here’s how social media users reacted to the video
Some social media users criticised Jill Biden for not helping her husband earlier.

“Wouldn’t you think Jill could hold her husband’s hand or grab his arm for safety’s sake?,” wrote one user.
“That’s just pathetic. Jill just doesn’t even care he’s about to eat sand at any moment,” said another.
“I would be ashamed of myself if this was my dad or husband and I didn’t just hold his hand to help him out. Everyone knows he is old and needs help, it’s nothing to be ashamed of. Just help the guy,” said a third user.
The video came after Biden made an announcement that he would be hosting President-elect Donald Trump in the White House.
