Bird hit grounds Delhi-A’bad flight at last minute

New Delhi: Passengers travelling from Delhi to Ahmedabad faced significant disruption on Tuesday night when their flight was cancelled just minutes before departure. The cancellation was caused by a bird strike on the incoming aircraft, necessitating a thorough inspection.
The last-minute cancellation left many passengers frustrated, with some scrambling to find alternative travel arrangements. One passenger, @UmeshVed2, shared on X (formerly Twitter), “Flight QP1146 Ahmedabad Delhi cancelled without any reason. No alternate nor stay provided. Passengers with kids & elders the worst sufferers. Seems not a reliable flight. Took another flight at a cost of Rs 24,360.”
Akasa Air issued a statement, explaining, “Akasa Air flight QP 1146 from Delhi to Ahmedabad was cancelled due to a bird strike on the incoming aircraft, requiring a detailed inspection. Our Akasa care officers and ground staff kept passengers informed about delays and cancellations while making necessary arrangements to minimise discomfort. Passengers were provided options to either opt for a full refund towards their existing booking or rebook an alternate available flight at no additional cost. We regret the inconvenience caused.”
