New Delhi : Recently an RTI filed by Sanjay Uzhava, a vigilant citizen of Surat city has revealed a shocking information, which is very damaging for democracy. Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have given this information through RTI. It is clear from the information provided by the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha that many MPs elected by the people of the country are not even allowed to sit in the Parliament session. The NDA government has been targeting opposition MPs for some time now. Attempts are being made to suspend MPs and suppress their voices under Article 374 A, 252, 254, 255, 257, 259 and 260. Since 2014, NDA governments 1 and 2 have suspended 93 opposition MPs in the Lok Sabha and 48 in the Rajya Sabha. There are 790 MPs in both the sessions including 545 MPs of Lok Sabha and 245 MPs of Rajya Sabha. About 17.85% of the total MPs of both sessions have been suspended by the NDA government in the last 9 years.

Further, during the tenure of UPA governments 1 and 2 from 2004 to 2014, 43 MPs were suspended, including 36 from the Lok Sabha and 7 from the Rajya Sabha. Of which about 25 Lok Sabha MPs belonged to their own party, the Indian National Congress. That means the number of opposition MPs suspended by UPA is only 18. Out of 790 MPs in both sessions, 18 MPs were suspended by the UPA in 10 years, a percentage of 2.28%. In the last 9 years, the NDA has suspended 141 out of 790 MPs, a percentage of 17.85%. In 2019, Phul was swept to power by the NDA coalition, winning 353 seats. The opposition has around 192 MPs, currently there are 98 opposition MPs in the Rajya Sabha, i.e. 141 out of a total of 290 opposition MPs has been suspended for some reason in the last 9 years. The percentage of which is 48.62%, which is a very serious matter. MPs elected by more than 15 crore voters have lost their right to speak as the voice of the people in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha sessions.
