SLUG: SUV PLUNGES INTO CANAL
Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) on Friday recovered the body of the third and last missing person from Fatehwadi canal. A senior fire officer stated that the body of 17-year-old Krish Dave, a resident of Ellisbridge, was found on Friday morning.
On Thursday, the bodies of two missing boys — Yash Solanki and Yaksh Bhankodia — both residents of the Ellisbridge area, were recovered from the canal. The trio was part of a group of friends who took an SUV to the canal road for shooting Instagram reels on Wednesday. While attempting to take a U-turn near the Fatehwadi canal, the driver lost control, and the SUV plunged into the water.
Rescue operations started immediately, and water flow from the Vasna Barrage was temporarily stopped. The incident occurred a little away from Vasna Barrage, where Bhankodia initially drove the car. Later, he handed over the wheels to Solanki. Krish Dave was also sitting in the car with them. The three friends were trying to take a U-turn and bring the car back, but for some reason, the car didn’t turn and went straight into the canal.
Their friend, Virajsinh Rathod, along with another friend, threw a rope into the water to try and rescue the trio, but none of them could grab the rope, and they were swept away by the strong current. Preliminary investigation revealed that the car was hired by a group of around 10 friends to shoot social media reels.
