Ahmedabad: Three unidentified men allegedly broke into the house of a 75-year-old doctor in Memnagar and escaped with cash and jewellery worth Rs 1.31 lakh after threatening him and his wife with knives. The incident took place around 3.30am on Wednesday at Nirant Park Society, near Sun & Step Club. The complaint was filed by the doctor who lives with his 76-year-old wife. According to the FIR, the couple went to sleep after dinner, leaving their bedroom door open. Around 3.30am, the wife of the complainant woke up for morning prayers and noticed three unknown men inside their bedroom. All three had face masks on and held sharp weapons with built-in lights.Upon seeing them, she raised an alarm, waking him up. When the complainant got out of bed and tried to fight the intruders, they threatened him and his wife with knives and demanded they remain silent. One of the men then instructed his wife to unlock a metal locker in the bedroom. “From the locker, the intruders allegedly took Rs 40,000 in cash, two silver bangles with diamond inlay (estimated at Rs 50,000), two gold earrings (estimated at Rs 20,000), three wristwatches of foreign make (estimated at Rs 20,000), a pearl necklace and one imitation necklace set,” the FIR states.Before leaving, the men warned the couple against approaching the cops, implying that doing so would put them at further risk and they would face dire consequences. The accused put the stolen items in a plastic bag and escaped.The doctor immediately contacted his daughter, who reached his house with her husband. They reviewed the CCTV footage and reported the incident to police. Vastrapur police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for robbery, house trespassing, criminal intimidation and abetment along with applicable sections of the Gujarat Police Act.
