Surat : The city bus and BRTS services launched by the Surat Municipal Corporation for convenience are constantly in controversy over accidents. Recently, the office bearers including the mayor and the chairman of the standing committee held a meeting with all the six bus operating agencies and the managers of the conductor providing agency and gave a strict instruction to ensure that accidents do not occur with municipal buses. However, it is again believed that this notification has been limited to the meeting and the agency managers have not given any notification to their staff. An accident involving a speeding city bus on the Katargam main road has led to the dismissal of the driver who complained and the conductor who ran reckless of the bus driver.
According to the information, the driver of the city bus (GJ 05-BX-3499) which was going to the station from Kataragam main road, was driving the bus erratically near Balasram Char Road when the accident occurred. Further on, near People’s Char Road, he narrowly avoided a serious accident when he narrowly missed a moped driver coming out of Manpa Pay & Park under the bridge. Confronting the bus driver who was standing in front of this issue, the driver said that the bus will run like this.
