Ahmedabad: Chief minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the GIFT International Fintech Institute (GIFT IFI) and the GIFT International Fintech Innovation Hub (GIFT IFIH) at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) in Gandhinagar on Friday.
The GIFT IFI is led by a consortium comprising Ahmedabad University, IIT Gandhinagar and the University of California, San Diego.

The initiative to set up the two institutions is supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), with courses set to begin in Jan this year. These courses aim to build fintech talent, including Fintech Foundations, Technology for Fintech, and AI & ML in Fintech.
Aarti Mehra, deputy country director of ADB, said, “GIFT City is paving the way for highly skilled jobs of the future and also bringing forth inclusive financial solutions. It will accelerate the development of an international financial centre to serve Viksit Bharat.”
GIFT IFIH, on the other hand, is a fintech incubator accelerator programme meant to support startups by providing critical resources, mentorship and access to expansive networks. Some 10 startups have joined the foundation batch at GIFT IFIH from across India, Singapore, the US and UAE.
