Ahmedabad: Following the announcement of Class 12 results for general and science streams, the online registration process for admissions to colleges affiliated with state universities via the GCAS portal is currently underway. However, students seeking admission under theeconomically weaker section (EWS) category are facing difficulties. To obtain the EWS certificate, students are required to submit their school leaving certificate (LC). Since most students have not yet received their original mark sheets, LCs have not been issued, delaying the process of obtaining EWS certificates.Even after receiving the LC, the application and approval process for the EWS certificate can take over a week. Meanwhile, the GCAS portal has set a registration deadline of May 18, putting additional pressure on students who may not complete the process in time unless the deadline is extended.Further complications have arisen at MG Science College, affiliated with Gujarat University. The college operates both morning and afternoon sessions, but only one set of courses is shown for selection on the portal. This has left students unable to opt for afternoon courses. Despite attempts by the college to correct the issue, permission for changes has not been granted. In addition, many students are still unaware of the full registration and choice-filling procedures on GCAS, causing confusion and delays. These challenges have left both students and college administrators in a difficult position as the admission process continues.
