Cops arrest five in Thaltej brawl case | Ahmedabad News


Ahmedabad: City police on Monday arrested five accused in connection with a violent brawl that took place near a famous mall in the Thaltej area on Jan 9.
According to DCP, zone-1, Balram Meena, the accused were identified as Mihir Desai, a resident of Chamanpura; Prince Jangid, a resident of Nirnaynagar; Jigar Desai, a resident of Nava Naroda; Pavan Thakor, a resident of Chamanpura; and Kailash Darji, also a resident of Chamanpura.
Vijay Bharwad (26), a resident of Ranip, filed an FIR on Jan 10 with Sarkhej police against Prince Jangid and Mihir Desai in this connection.
The complaint stated that about a fortnight ago at a tea stall on Sindhu Bhavan Road, a verbal altercation occurred over the rental of construction materials, leading Jangid to file a complaint against him and his friend Arvind Bharwad at Sarkhej police station.
Vijay Bharwad was arrested in the case, but later Jangid and Desai continued to threaten him and his friends.
In the early hours of Friday, Vijay Bharwad was present on Hebatpur Road with his friends when a speeding SUV approached them, causing them to move aside. One of his friends fell and injured his right knee. Soon, two other cars came, and people from these cars, armed with swords and sticks, got out. The complainant stated that Jangid and Mihir Desai, who were part of the group, were armed with swords.
The group, with 10 to 12 unidentified persons along with Jangid and Desai, chased and attacked them with swords and sticks.
