Ahmedabad: Due to delays in implementing changes related to discrepancies in seniority calculation for the transfer of head teachers in primary schools across Gujarat, many principals did not apply in the recently concluded inter-district transfer camp. Following this, the state education department issued a new circular approving the organisation of another general transfer camp, directing the director of primary education to complete the process before June 15.Earlier, during the inter-district transfer camp, the date of joining at the current school was considered for eligibility. As a result, many head teachers who did not complete three years at their current school were disqualified. Several representations were made to address this inconsistency, after which it was decided to consider the original date of appointment instead. However, this revision came after the seniority list was already published, leaving many unable to apply in time.Responding to concerns raised by affected head teachers, the education department has now allowed a fresh general camp. Teachers who previously applied for transfers or wish to revise their earlier applications can do so under the updated guidelines.Priority will be given to both taluka-level and inter-district transfer camps, with instructions to complete them before June 15. Following this, district-level mutual transfer camps will be held. After the completion of these transfer procedures, eligible teachers with the required qualifications and experience will be promoted to head teacher positions as per recruitment rules.
