Earthquake of 3.7 magnitude hits Gujarat’s Kutch district | Ahmedabad News


NEW DELHI: A 3.7 magnitude earthquake struck Kutch district in Gujarat on Monday morning, according to the Institute of Seismological Research (ISR).
The tremor occurred at 10.44 am, with its epicenter located 76 kilometers north-northeast of Lakhpat. No casualties or property damage were reported by the district administration.
This marks the second earthquake above 3 magnitude in Kutch this month. The ISR reported a 3.2 magnitude tremor on December 7. A 4 magnitude earthquake also occurred in Kutch on November 18.
On November 15, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake hit Patan in north Gujarat.
Gujarat has a high earthquake risk. According to the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA), “The earthquake in Kutch on January 26, 2001 was the third largest and second most destructive in India over the last two centuries.”
