Gandhinagar: Electricity was restored within 48 hours in all the 7,327 villages of 11 districts that experienced power disruption because of thunderstorms with gusty winds earlier this month, said the Gujarat govt on Tuesday.The govt added that electricity was restored in 4,987 villages within 24 hours, and complete restoration was achieved in 48 hours. Several districts were hit by thunderstorms and gusty winds on May 5 and 6.A total of 1,026 teams from power distribution companies and 87 teams from transmission companies, comprising 5,426 personnel, were deployed to ensure electricity was restored earlier this month, an official statement said. The most affected districts by the thunderstorm included Bharuch, Anand, Chhota Udepur, Dahod, Kheda, Panchmahal, Vadodara, Mahisagar, Surendranagar, Banaskantha, and Aravalli.The govt said that with the upcoming monsoon season in mind, power companies already devised a disaster management plan, where essential materials have been stocked at key locations to ensure a rapid response.
