A woman in England plunged 90ft to her death from a 17-storey tower block while she was heavily pregnant. She didn’t survive but her baby did. Pictures of the newborn baby girl were shared by her sister recently, showing the premature baby with tubes in her mouth.
The baby’s mother Emma Atkinson fell from the tenth floor of a building in Leeds and died. She was weeks away from delivering her fifth baby. Posie was delivered five weeks prematurely in the hospital and is in critical care.
Emma’s daughter announced the news of her mother’s death on Facebook, and wrote, “I need you so much mum, please come home. I just wanna kiss you and hear your voice. I love you more than life mum.”
Emma had already named her unborn daughter. She had recently posted a picture on her Facebook page posing and showing off her bump. She wrote that she was due in 10 weeks. “It’s a girl I couldn’t be happier,” she wrote.
No foul play in pregnant woman’s death
People have been paying tribute to the mother of five and leaving flowers at the site of her death. The police do not suspect any foul play in the incident, saying there are “no suspicious circumstances”.
Those living in the neighbourhood say Emma fell from an open window and the baby surviving that fall is a miracle. A resident told BBC that he heard a thud and then screaming.
The paramedics tried to save Emma but she was declared dead at the scene.
Mandy Shires, 45, a resident, told MailOnline, “I saw all the commotion after that poor lady fell. The window she fell from was wide open all day.”
“She had no chance falling from that height, but it can only be a miracle that her baby is alive. We are all praying the little girl makes It through.”
Talking to the media about the tragic news, a West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said, “At 10.24 am today, police were contacted by the ambulance service who had been called to an incident where a woman had fallen from height at Shakespeare Towers, in Shakespeare Approach, Burmantofts.”
“There were no suspicious circumstances and the Coroner’s Office has been informed.”
