Fans revel in Speed of Sound as Coldplay rocks A’bad | Ahmedabad News

Ahmedabad: From “Yellow” lights to “Viva La Vida” vibes, Coldplay fever wrapped up on a euphoric crescendo, leaving Ahmedabad and all those who arrived here floating on their “Magic” long after the final chord.
The British pop-rock band, Coldplay, held its biggest-ever concert at the Motera stadium in Ahmedabad over the weekend of Jan 25-26.
At least 2.5 lakh fans from across the country arrived in Ahmedabad – all dressed to dazzle and soak themselves in the music. Some made last-minute plans, whereas others who booked their tickets months ago patiently waited for the moment to arrive.
Anviksha Mishra, a market research professional from Pune who arrived on a last-minute plan to Ahmedabad, was bedazzled by the magic. “The concert was truly magical, an experience that exceeded all my expectations. Every moment of anticipation, every penny spent — it was all undeniably worth it. The energy was nothing short of amazing, and it’s certainly something one should experience once in their lifetime,” she said.
With no security hiccups or complaints, the event was as seamless as the band’s melodies. Home minister Harsh Sanghavi posted on his social media handle, “Congratulations Ahmedabad, We Did It!…. We hosted an epic Coldplay concert, welcoming a record-breaking 2.5+ lakh visitors! 1.70 lakh+ visitors who travelled from outside Gujarat. Thank you for visiting Gujarat!”
“Hassle-free roads, warm welcomes and top-notch hospitality from autos to cabs, restaurants to street vendors, and hotels — we’ve got it all! And the cherry on top? Despite simultaneous big weddings and events, not a single complaint of misbehaviour, road traffic issues or mismanagement in 2 days,” the post further stated.
Meanwhile, Western Railway reported 100% occupancy on special trains from Mumbai to Ahmedabad, arranged after regular trains were fully booked to cater to concert-goers.
The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International airport clocked 93,500 passenger footfalls over Jan 25-26, majorly driven by fans and music enthusiasts arriving in Ahmedabad for the concerts. The airport handled 340 flight movements on Saturday and 320 on Sunday. The airport also saw 74 charter aircraft movements over the past two days.
