Father Files Complaint Against Himself After Daughter Dies in Tragic Road Accident in Gujarat | Ahmedabad News

AHMEDABAD: In an unusual case, a man filed a police complaint against himself after his daughter died in a road accident. The incident took place early Sunday morning near the Prantij toll plaza.
The complaint was filed on Monday, where the complainant, accused, and witness is the same person whose daughter died.
The complainant, Pappu Yogi, 34, is a farmer from Bharatsinhjika Ghoda village in Devgarh, Rajsamand district of Rajasthan. He was travelling with his family and relatives from Mumbai to his native village when the accident occurred during the early hours on Sunday.
According to the complaint filed with Prantij police by Pappu, “Around 1:30am on Sunday, while I was driving near Prantij toll plaza, I was blinded by lights from oncoming vehicles. I lost control of the car and it overturned.”
Pappu was travelling with his wife Kanta, daughters Pooja (13) and Priyanka (8), son Sumit (10), his brother-in-law Ladunath, 35, and a relative’s daughter named Meera, 14.
In the accident, Pappu’s daughter Priyanka suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot. Others, including Pappu, received varying degrees of injuries.
“I received injuries on my left elbow. My daughter Priyanka was injured on her forehead and died at the scene,” Pappu stated in the FIR filed against himself.
After the accident, Pappu called the emergency service. The injured were taken to the govt hospital at Prantij. Some were later referred to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. Priyanka’s body was sent for post-mortem and later handed over to the family.
Pappu concluded in the complaint: “As I was driving the vehicle and lost control, leading to the accident, I request legal action to be taken against me. The facts mentioned in the complaint are true to my knowledge.”
Prantij police have registered the complaint of causing death by negligent driving under the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita along with charges of the Motor Vehicle Act and are conducting further investigation.
