Four die in accident as car hits stray cow, road divider | Ahmedabad News


Ahmedabad: Four members of a family in Balasinor in Mahisagar district died late on Thursday night after the car in which they were travelling hit a road divider. The car driver tried to evade a stray cow on the Ahmedabad-Indore Highway in Kathlal of Kheda.
Sanjay Solanki, 23, a resident of Oth village in Balasinor taluka of Mahisagar, said in the FIR with Kathlal police that he, along with his father Punjesinh Solanki, cousins Sanjay Thakor, Rajesh Thakor, and Vinod Solanki, hired a car to travel to Ahmedabad city to buy pooja-related materials.

Sanjay said that a fellow villager, Vinod Solanki, drove the car and they went to Odhav in Ahmedabad city at around 7.30pm on Thursday. Sanjay mentioned that they returned at around 9.30pm on Thursday and stopped at a restaurant for dinner.
At around 10.30pm on Thursday near Ladvel Crossroads, when Vinod was driving the car, a stray cow suddenly came into the way. Vinod tried to evade the cow, but hit it and later collided with a divider as he lost control of the wheels.
Due to the severe impact of the collision, Punjesinh, driver Vinod, Rajesh, and Sanjay Thakor suffered severe injuries to their skulls and were bleeding profusely. People rushed to help the injured persons, and they were taken to a private hospital in Kathlal, where all four were declared brought dead.
Kathlal police registered a case of causing death by negligence and rash driving under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with charges under the Motor Vehicle Act against the deceased car driver Vinod Solanki.
