Four food samples found substandard, one unit sealed

Ahmedabad: The health department of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) announced on Saturday that four food samples taken from different food units across the city were declared substandard. Additionally, one unit was sealed due to unhygienic conditions. The department collected a sample of ‘fasting sabudana’ from Mahadev Flour factory in Vastrapur, a sample of ‘red chutney’ from Bhagat Kachori Centre in Shahpur, a sample of ‘sauce’ from Asmita Food Product (Kutchi King) in Bapunagar, and a sample of ‘Nadiyadi chevda’ from Iqbalbhai Sing unit near Geeta Mandir, all of which were declared substandard.
The department inspected Husaini Chicken Centre in Maktampura and found it in unhygienic conditions, leading to the sealing of the unit, which was also operating without a licence. From March 2 to March 8, the department inspected 595 units across different areas of the city, issuing notices to 202 units for unhygienic conditions. Additionally, 341 kilograms of inedible food and 276 litres of inedible liquid were destroyed.
