The Special Operations Group of Ahmedabad City Crime Branch intercepted a vehicle near Dastan Circle on a tip-off, seizing 55.34 grams of suspected hybrid ganja

AHMEDABAD: The Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Ahmedabad City Crime Branch seized 55.34 grams of suspected hybrid ganja, valued at Rs 1.66 lakh, from a vehicle near Dastan Circle on a specific tip-off.
Unarmed police constable Tarangkumar Ramanbhai had received intelligence about a white car coming from Surat, suspected to be transporting illegal narcotics from Gandhinagar towards Aslali. Acting swiftly, the SOG team intercepted the vehicle at Dastan Circle.
The driver was identified as Om Bhargav Patel, 21, a resident of Geeta Residency in Gandhinagar. Following legal procedures under Sections 43 and 50 of the NDPS Act, a search was carried out in the presence of witnesses.
A school bag containing two taped parcels of green plant-based material, a mobile phone, and identity documents were recovered. Preliminary field testing by FSL Officer A S Patel confirmed the substance to be ganja.
According to the FIR filed with the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB), the total value of the seized items, including the car and mobile phone, is estimated at over Rs 4 lakh.
Police believe Patel procured the ganja from a wanted accused, Dhyan Desai, from Vadodara. A complaint has been registered under the NDPS Act against both Patel and Desai.
